Our Philanthropies

Alpha Sigma Alpha shows its devotion to making a difference in the lives of others through its national philanthropic organizations: The S. June Smith Center, Girls on the Run, Special Olympics, as well as our local philanthropy The B+ Foundation.

“Special Olympics Delaware changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. We build sports, skills, confidence, strength, motivation and self-esteem - not just for 27,000 athletes, but everyone involved.” -Special Olympics Delaware​

“Girls on the Run is a transformational learning program for 8 to 13 year-old girls. We teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.” - Girls on the Run​​​

“The S. June Smith Center in Lancaster, PA seeks to provide early intervention resources for children with developmental disabilities and their families in schools, homes and communities. Annually during the Spring Semester, the University of Delaware holds its UDance event. It is a student-run philanthropic event to help fight childhood cancer.  The 12 hour dance-a-thon benefits the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation where B+ Heroes--children with cancer--are paired with student organizations on campus.  Our hero, Peyton, spent the day running around and playing with our sisters.  She was also given an Alpha Sigma Alpha t-shirt.  This past year, Alpha Sigma Alpha and the University of Delaware community raised a grand total of $455,982.16...double the amount raised in 2011!
